This year, why not send a card that EVERYONE will remember!? Horsewoman Cheryl Ward helped "problem horse" Romeo channel his difficult behavior into creativity! Romeo was a headstrong horse; he'd been through at least 7 owners in his young life. Then Cheryl came along. She recognized Romeo's tendency to be "mouthy" and gave him a paint brush! Romeo caught on to the idea very quickly and he truly enjoys painting. You can read more about him and see photos of him and his paintings on his website,
www.paintinghorse.com.
The most remarkable part about Romeo's story is that Cheryl is not a professional horse trainer. She's an average horse owner who loves her horse so dearly that she was driven to think outside the box in order to help him overcome his "bad" behavior. Their relationship has blossomed into a special one, and we are fortunate to be able to share a part of it with you!

In case you were thinking that the whole idea of a horse creating art was just a bit too off the wall... consider Harry Beston's words from The Outermost House:
"We need another and a wiser and perhaps a more mystical concept of animals... We patronize them for their incompleteness, for their tragic fate for having taken form so far below ourselves. And therein do we err. For the animal shall not be measured by man. In a world older and more complete than ours, they move finished and complete, gifted with the extension of the senses we have lost or never attained, living by voices we shall never hear. They are not brethren, they are not underlings: they are other nations, caught with ourselves in the net of life and time, fellow prisoners of the splendour and travail of the earth."
