About the Art: Every one of Don Stewart's intriguing composite images is drawn entirely by hand, using an ordinary ballpoint pen. Each drawing begins with a pencil sketch, and a long list of possible ingredients. In a process that can take months to complete, Don carefully researches each subject, and considers dozens of ideas and compositions before finally putting ink to paper.
About the Artist: After earning degrees in Biology, Art and Medicine, and an internship at the Mayo Clinic, Dr Don Stewart discharged himself from the hospital just in time to avoid a lucrative surgical career. For the last three decades he's turned from drawing blood to drawing pictures, creating a signature style of visual humor from the tip of an ordinary ballpoint pen.
